The strike, carried out on Monday, July 21, targeted a known terrorist assembly and logistics point based on credible intelligence, according to fresh battle damage assessments.
In addition to the fatalities, several other fighters sustained severe injuries. The operation also destroyed over 30 brand-new motorcycles recently acquired by the group for operational use, along with a major food storage facility containing large quantities of beans and other provisions allegedly seized from local farming communities.
Military sources described the strike as one of the most impactful precision operations in recent weeks, significantly degrading ISWAP’s mobility and sustainment capabilities in the area.
“The destruction of the motorcycles will greatly limit the terrorists’ ability to carry out rapid raids and reinforcements across the challenging Lake Chad terrain, while the loss of their food stockpile will further weaken their capacity for prolonged operations,” a senior military official stated.
The successful strike is expected to disrupt ISWAP’s regrouping efforts in the Southern Lake Chad axis, particularly around Marte, Ngala, and Dikwa Local Government Areas.
Under Operation HADIN KAI, the Nigerian military has intensified its air campaign, leveraging intelligence-driven surveillance and targeted strikes to restrict terrorist movements and dismantle their logistics and command networks.
