Obidients pull out video of Jonathan allegedly linking Modu Sheriff to Boko-Haram founder

An old footage that captured a moment that former Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan allegedly linked ex-governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sheriff to the funder of Boko Haram terrorist group, Mohammed Yusuf has resurfaced online.

The video clip was dug up by supporters of the presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress, NDC, Peter Obi following a recent remark by the latter.

Recall that Sheriff had during an interview on Channels TV, claimed that the NDC presidential candidate is “pursuing the division of Nigeria because he believes in Biafra”.

Sheriff declared that the northerners would vote against Peter Obi in the coming election, further claiming that the northern electorates don’t believe in “Biafrans”.

The controversial remark didn’t sit well with some supporters of Obi, NDC and the party’s vice presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso as they alleged that Sheriff was part of those, who allegedly formed the dreaded terrorists group.

In the video clip, shot in April 2013 during a visit Jonathan made to Borno State, he was heard describing Mr Sheriff, who was then a member of the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, as a “friend” of Mohammed Yusuf, the man who founded and led Boko Haram for years.

Yusuf died while in the custody of the Nigeria Police after he and a number of his followers were arrested following a bloody clash between the sect members and law enforcement.

Also recall that a human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, had also alleged that Sheriff provided financial support to the terrorist group and entered into a political arrangement with its members during the 2003 governorship election.
