The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has publicly distanced itself from Mr. Okey Ezeala, cautioning party members and the general public that he is neither an official nor a representative of the party, despite allegedly parading himself as Deputy National Publicity Secretary.
In a disclaimer signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director Esq., the NDC accused Ezeala of impersonation and fraudulent activities. The statement stressed that Ezeala was never elected or appointed into any leadership role within the National Executive Committee (NEC) or the National Working Committee (NWC).
According to the party, multiple complaints have been received alleging that Ezeala falsely presented himself as a senior party official, deceiving members by collecting large sums of money with promises of securing tickets and political appointments.
The NDC further alleged that Ezeala organized an illegal “Congress” in Abia State, which led to the emergence of a parallel executive through intimidation and other unlawful means.
“Mr. Okey Ezeala is not elected or appointed by any organ of our great party as deputy national publicity secretary or into our NWC or NEC as a member,” the statement read.
The party warned members and the public against conducting any transaction with Ezeala, insisting he has no authority to represent the NDC at any level. It emphasized that he is not part of the party’s executive structure at the national, state, or local government levels.
The NDC urged anyone who may have fallen victim to Ezeala’s alleged fraudulent activities to formally report the matter to the office of the National Secretary for appropriate action.
