NDC Demands Gbajabiamila’s Sack Over Alleged PFIPC Scandal

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has called for the immediate removal of President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, following allegations linking him to a controversial scheme involving the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).

In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, the NDC described the allegations as “damning,” accusing Gbajabiamila of colluding with Prince Mathew Adeniyi Adeyemi, who claims to head the non-existent PFIPC.

According to Adeyemi, the phantom agency allegedly received allocations in the 2026 budget and opened multiple accounts with the Central Bank of Nigeria, including a domiciliary and Treasury Single Account.

The NDC questioned how such accounts could exist when the Presidency has publicly denied the agency’s legitimacy.

The party also raised concerns over staffing approvals, alleging that the Head of the Civil Service approved 314 positions for the PFIPC.

More troubling, it claimed Gbajabiamila demanded 48% of the agency’s take-off grant amounting to ₦27.3 billion and facilitated Adeyemi’s appointment in exchange for ₦600 million.

The scandal is further clouded by the mysterious death of Babatunde Tanimola, said to be an intermediary between Adeyemi and Gbajabiamila, who died in a hotel fire in Abuja in October 2025.

Adeyemi has also alleged multiple assassination attempts on his life. The NDC demanded Gbajabiamila’s removal to allow for an independent probe, urging investigations by the EFCC, ICPC, and the Police.

It insisted that “anyone found culpable, no matter how highly placed, must face prosecution.”Meanwhile, the Presidency has dismissed Adeyemi’s claims, describing PFIPC as fictitious.

Special Adviser Bayo Onanuga said Adeyemi forged appointment letters and ran an elaborate impersonation scheme, with criminal charges already filed against him.
