The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State on Sunday launched its mobilisation drive for the 2027 general elections with a massive rally in Ilorin, the state capital, celebrating President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid and the party’s newly elected candidates.
The event, tagged “Kwara Ndupe” (Kwara is Grateful), was organised by Kwara Progressives and drew party leaders, candidates, and supporters across major streets of Ilorin.
State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Abdulateef Alakawa, told journalists that the rally was both a thanksgiving for the peaceful conduct of the primaries and an early show of unity ahead of the polls.
“Power belongs to the people, and the people have spoken through the direct primary elections. We are grateful to God that the primaries were peaceful and successful, with our candidates emerging across the various positions,” Alakawa said.
He dismissed fears of divisions within the party, noting that reconciliation committees had already been set up to resolve any grievances.
APC candidate for Kwara North Senatorial District, Ahmad Muhammad, hailed the zoning of the governorship ticket to Kwara North as a gesture of fairness and inclusiveness. He expressed confidence that the APC would retain power in the state.
Similarly, Kwara South Senatorial candidate, Olalekan Adewoye, described the APC as a united family committed to collective success.
Majority Leader of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Oba Magaji Abdulkadri, praised the turnout, saying it reflected the growing strength of the party.
“The future in Kwara State is APC from top to bottom, by the grace of Allah. The future is very bright. We are not afraid. There is practically no opposition in Kwara,” Abdulkadri declared.
