The Deputy Spokesperson of the House of Representatives, Philip Agbese, has called on Nigerian security agencies to intensify operations against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other forms of insecurity across the country.
Agbese, an opposition lawmaker representing the Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency in Benue State, made the appeal in a statement on Monday while highlighting recent operational successes by the Nigerian Armed Forces.
He praised the growing coordination among the military services, noting that joint operations are yielding tangible results by taking the fight proactively to criminal elements rather than merely responding to incidents.
“In June alone, our troops neutralised 129 terrorists and other criminal elements, arrested 486 suspects, rescued 542 kidnapped victims, and recovered 130 firearms and 5,538 rounds of ammunition,” Agbese stated.
The lawmaker emphasised the importance of sustained synergy between the military and other security agencies, which he said has significantly helped in rolling back insecurity in parts of Nigeria. He also urged stronger collaboration moving forward.
Agbese stressed that defeating insecurity requires collective effort and called on citizens to support the armed forces by providing credible intelligence and withholding any form of collaboration with criminals.“Our armed forces cannot fight this battle alone. Citizens must continue to provide timely information, reject collaboration with criminal groups and stand firmly behind our security personnel,” he said.
He expressed optimism that with continued public support, strong leadership, and operational momentum, lasting peace remains achievable in Nigeria.
