Insecurity: 'Some Generals Must Be Held Accountable' – Sam Amadi

The Director of Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, Sam Amadi, has stressed the need for some of Nigeria’s army generals and leaders to be held accountable for insecurity in the country.

Amadi said this on Friday while fielding questions in an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Prime Time’.

The former Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC,

was reacting to President Bola Tinubu’s approval for the expansion of the Nigerian Army, noting that there is something wrong with Nigeria’s security strategy and morale.

“Some of our generals and leaders must be held accountable. When the leadership is corrupt, it affects the entire nation.

“Corruption in the public sector weakens efficiency and undermines national commitment. This pervasive corruption continues to erode public trust and the country’s ability to address critical challenges.

“Troop expansion alone cannot guarantee improved security.

“Again, a military of course deployed for peacekeeping, for all kinds of things on the road, for even managing the roads, because our roads are now impassable. There are criminals everywhere,” he said.
