Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 election, Peter Obi, has raised alarm over alleged government harassment, saying he may not live to contest the polls.
Obi made the remarks during an interview on With Chude, hosted by media personality Chude Jideonwo, and shared on X Wednesday.
Responding to a question about his 2027 candidacy, Obi said:“Not even a candidate. I might not even be alive. I’m telling you. Every single thing I do for a living, this government is frustrating it. Deliberately so.”
The former Anambra State governor explained that while he was not making direct accusations, he experiences daily obstruction in his personal and professional life.
He alleged that opposition figures are being targeted, citing incidents such as his car being locked at an airport and acquaintances avoiding him in public for fear of reprisal.
“They are attacking everybody who is in opposition personally. I am being attacked personally. Even to provide me with necessary things that I should have been entitled to, not at all,” he said.
Obi also claimed that some supporters have discouraged him from attending family events, fearing his presence could attract unwanted attention.
As of press time, the Federal Government has not responded to his allegations.
