Friends, political associates, family members, governors, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and other well-wishers converged on Abuja on Monday for the one-year remembrance ceremony of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The solemn event, held at the Nigerian Army Conference Centre, brought together dignitaries from across the country to honour the late Nigerian leader. Among those in attendance were former First Lady, Aisha Buhari, and former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (retd.), who joined mourners in paying tribute to Buhari’s memory.
The gathering reflected Buhari’s enduring influence on Nigeria’s political landscape and the respect he commanded among colleagues, supporters, and members of the public. Tributes highlighted his years of service, his role in shaping national security and governance, and his impact on Northern Nigeria where he was widely regarded as a hero.
The remembrance also served as a moment of reflection on his leadership style, policies, and the challenges faced during his administration, while reaffirming the importance of preserving his legacy in Nigeria’s democratic journey.
Prayers were offered for the repose of his soul, with speakers urging unity and continued commitment to the ideals of service and sacrifice that Buhari represented.
