Renewed violence has rocked Dass Local Government Area of Bauchi State, where suspected kidnappers killed one resident and abducted four others in separate attacks over the past two weeks.
Former Bauchi lawmaker and House of Representatives aspirant, Maryam Bagel, raised alarm in a Facebook post, detailing incidents in Kagadama and Bagel villages.
She revealed that a pharmacy owner was kidnapped in Kagadama, with abductors demanding ₦50 million ransom. Days later, another resident, Shahibi previously abducted a year earlier was shot dead in Bagel in front of his wife and children.
Bagel further disclosed that gunmen returned to Kagadama on Tuesday, targeting a shop owner who escaped, but abducting three others, including a 10-year-old boy.
“Four people were kidnapped in Kagadama village, and one person was killed in the presence of his own family in my village of Bagel,” she wrote.
The Bauchi State Police Command confirmed the attacks, with spokesperson SP Nafiu Habib assuring that operatives, hunters, and vigilantes have been deployed to rescue victims and track down suspects.
This latest wave of violence comes just a week after heavily armed bandits invaded Rafin Ciyawa village in Ningi LGA, killing two children, injuring six, and abducting three residents.
Bagel urged authorities to intensify security in Dass to prevent the area from becoming a safe haven for criminal gangs.
