Mrs. Florence Ajimobi has arrived in Vienna and formally assumed duty as Nigeria’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to Austria and the International Organisations in Vienna.
In a Facebook post on Friday, Ajimobi announced her arrival, noting that she was warmly received at the VIP Wing of the Vienna International Airport by Mr. Muyiwa Onifade, the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Nigerian Embassy and Permanent Mission.
She was also welcomed by home-based officers, local staff, and prominent members of the Nigerian community in Austria.
The reception included representatives from various groups such as the Oduduwa Group, Igbo Cultural Group, Nigeria-Austria Friendship Group, Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO), and Nigerian Students in Austria.“I am deeply grateful for this heartfelt welcome and look forward to strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Nigeria and Austria,” Ajimobi stated.
Ajimobi, the widow of the late former Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, was among the non-career ambassadors nominated by President Bola Tinubu in November 2025. In March 2026, the President approved her posting along with 64 other ambassadors-designate and high commissioners.
Her appointment is expected to further enhance Nigeria’s diplomatic ties with Austria and its engagements with key international organisations based in Vienna.
