The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) have begun a major promotion exercise for more than 13,000 civil servants.
The exercise, which started on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, is expected to last ten days and covers staff across 150 cadres and grades.
Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Engr. Emeka Ezeh, announced that the promotion was approved by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, as part of efforts to support the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
According to a statement from the Commission, Minister Wike has also directed that the 2026 promotion exercise be conducted before the end of the year to ensure all eligible officers have the opportunity for career progression.
He emphasized the need for a smooth process free of the issues experienced in previous exercises.
Engr. Ezeh assured candidates that all necessary arrangements have been made for a hitch-free exercise using the Computer-Based Test (CBT) format.
He urged participants to remain patient and wished them success. This year’s exercise builds on the Commission’s pioneering use of CBT for promotions in 2024, shortly after its inauguration.
The FCTA aims to ensure transparency and efficiency in the process.
