'Every Nigerian Life is Equally Precious’ — Sultan Seeks Release of Abducted Borno pupils

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has called on the Federal Government and security agencies to intensify efforts to secure the release of schoolchildren abducted in Borno State.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Sultan welcomed the rescue of pupils and teachers in Oyo State after 56 days in captivity, commending the coordinated efforts of the Federal Government, the Oyo State Government, and security and intelligence agencies.

He said the successful operation should serve as renewed hope in Nigeria’s fight against insecurity, stressing the importance of sustained collaboration among governments, security agencies, and citizens.

“Every Nigerian life is equally precious and deserving of protection,” the Sultan declared, urging authorities to show the same commitment in freeing the abducted Borno pupils.

The Sultan also appealed to Nigerians to reject all forms of criminality including terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and ritual killings emphasizing that no religion condones violence.

He encouraged religious leaders and communities to expose criminal elements, noting that collective responsibility is essential for lasting peace.

He further prayed for the recovery of the rescued Oyo pupils and teachers and urged security agencies to continue their efforts until all abducted Nigerians regain their freedom.
