Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have rescued Samuel Okunsebor, a professor at the Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), who was abducted by kidnappers
Okunsebor, the dean of the faculty of agriculture at NSUK,
was abducted on Wednesday at Mile Uku, a boundary community between Lafia and
Nasarawa Eggon LGA.
Gunmen were said to have attacked the community at midnight
on Wednesday.
According to Zagazola Makama, DSS operatives successfully
located and rescued the professor at about 3pm on Friday following
intelligence-driven operations.
The publication said DSS handed over the professor to his
family members in the presence of senior officials of the university, including
Kitso Ngbargu, the deputy vice-chancellor.
Okunsebor was subsequently taken to the Federal University
of Lafia Teaching Hospital for medical evaluation and routine medical checks.
A senior university official, who spoke on condition of
anonymity, told Zagazola Makama that two suspects have been arrested in
connection with the abduction.

The official said the university is grateful to the DSS for
the rescue of the professor.
“The university is greatly indebted to the DSS for working
round the clock to ensure the timely rescue of our amiable Dean of the Faculty
of Agriculture,” the official said.
“We understand that the DSS have in their custody two of the
persons behind the kidnap of our dear professor.
“Given how the DSS has been meticulously prosecuting suspects in courts, we have little doubt that both suspects will soon have their day in court.”
In June, three students of the Federal University of Lafia
(FULafia) were abducted by unidentified gunmen.
The students were reportedly taken from their residence near
the university’s temporary campus in Akunza, Lafia.
