Biggest Cover-Up: Sowore Slams Arrest of Fake PFIPC DG Adeniyi Adeyemi

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has sharply criticized the arrest of Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, the man who presented himself as Director-General of the non-existent Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), calling it “the biggest cover-up ever.”

Sowore made the comment in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, reacting to Adeyemi’s arrest shortly after a Federal High Court in Abuja issued a warrant for his arrest.

He argued that the move, along with reports of Adeyemi’s alleged mistreatment, points to an orchestrated effort to suppress the truth rather than pursue genuine accountability.

“If the authorities were truly committed to uncovering the facts, President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, should also be under arrest and investigation,” Sowore stated.

He further claimed that a key individual allegedly involved in collecting a ₦400 million bribe on Gbajabiamila’s behalf had died under mysterious circumstances, and that the hotel reportedly used for the transaction had been demolished.

Sowore accused the federal government of obstructing justice in its handling of the case, labeling it part of a broader pattern under the current administration.

Background on the ArrestAdeyemi faces an eight-count charge including forgery, fraud, and impersonation (case number FHC/ABJ/CR/562/2025).

He failed to appear in court for his arraignment despite his lawyer’s announcement of representation, prompting Justice Mohammed Umar to issue the arrest warrant.

Authorities describe PFIPC as a fictitious agency. Adeyemi is accused of unlawfully assuming the role of its Director-General, forging documents, and carrying out official duties without authorization, including soliciting diplomatic support for visas.

The case has drawn significant public attention, with Adeyemi previously maintaining his innocence and alleging involvement by high-level officials.

The presidency and Gbajabiamila’s office have rejected the allegations as false, describing Adeyemi as a criminal impostor who forged documents to scam agencies and secure benefits.

Sowore’s intervention has intensified calls for a broader investigation beyond Adeyemi, framing the arrest as a potential scapegoat tactic amid lingering questions over alleged bribery and official complicity.

The matter remains ongoing, with Adeyemi now in custody ahead of further court proceedings.
