Kenneth Okonkwo, a Nollywood actor-turned-politician and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has accused former Anambra State governor Peter Obi of betrayal, while praising Atiku Abubakar for recognizing his worth.
Speaking on Politics Today on Channels Television, Okonkwo made the remarks barely 24 hours after Atiku appointed him as his spokesman.
He explained that he publicly severed ties with Obi in 2024, citing the former Labour Party presidential candidate’s lack of decisiveness.
“You were one of the earliest interviewers that interviewed me in July 2024 when I said I wasn’t speaking for him anymore because he’s not decisive. I’ve seen in him certain qualities that make him unfit to be the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He was the one who betrayed me,” Okonkwo said.
Okonkwo added that his decision to part ways with Obi was made clear to the public to avoid confusion, stressing that Atiku’s recent appointment shows he is valued in the political space.
