The All Progressives Congress (APC) has constituted a 276-member national campaign council and 12 specialised sub-committees for the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.
A statement issued on Sunday by Felix Morka, APC national
publicity secretary, said the campaign council is chaired by Hope Uzodimma,
governor of Imo state and chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum.
Mai Mala Buni, governor of Yobe state; Godswill Akpabio,
president of the senate; and Tajudeen Abbas, speaker of the house of
representatives, will serve as co-chairmen.
Ibrahim Masari, senior special assistant to the president on
political and other matters, was named deputy chairman, while Barau Jibrin,
deputy president of the senate, will serve as secretary.
The campaign council also includes governors, ministers,
principal officers of the national assembly, members of the national working
committee (NWC), former governors, lawmakers and other senior party
stakeholders from across the country.
Among the prominent members are AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq,
governor of Kwara; Uba Sani of Kaduna; Babagana Zulum of Borno; Bassey Otu of
Cross River; Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti; Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos; Dapo
Abiodun of Ogun; Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo; Monday Okpebholo of Edo and Umaru
Bago of Niger.
Others are Atiku Bagudu, minister of budget and economic
planning; Femi Gbajabiamila, chief of staff to the president; Lateef Fagbemi,
attorney-general of the federation; Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, minister of interior;
Bosun Tijani, minister of communications, innovation and digital economy and
Taiwo Oyedele, minister of finance.
Also on the list are Zacch Adedeji, chairman of the Nigeria
Revenue Service (NRS); Dele Alake, minister of solid minerals development;
Sunday Dare, special adviser to the president on media and public
communications; and Bayo Onanuga, special adviser to the president on
information and strategy.
The APC also constituted 12 sub-committees to coordinate
different aspects of its campaign.
The election planning and management committee is chaired by
Uzodimma, with Monday Okpebholo as secretary, while the finance and resource
mobilisation committee is headed by Sanwo-Olu, with Zacch Adedeji serving as
secretary.
Abba Yusuf, governor of Kano, chairs the contact, grassroots
engagement and mobilisation committee, while Otu heads the logistics and
campaign management committee. Sani chairs the monitoring and compliance
committee, and Sheriff Oborevwori, governor of Delta, heads the protocol
committee.
The media and publicity committee is chaired by Abdullahi
Sule, governor of Nasarawa state, with Morka serving as secretary. Its members
include Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Tijani, Oyedele, Alake, Dare and Onanuga.
Other sub-committees include security, chaired by Inuwa
Yahaya, governor of Gombe state, with Benjamin Kalu, deputy speaker of the
house of representatives, as secretary; youth mobilisation, chaired by Usman
Ododo, governor of Kogi State; special interest (persons with disabilities)
mobilisation, chaired by Bago; women’s mobilisation, chaired by Imaan
Sulaiman-Ibrahim, minister of women affairs; and the secretariat committee,
chaired by Ayoola Olajolo.
The party said the national campaign council and its
sub-committees will be inaugurated on Tuesday, July 28, in Abuja. The
inauguration is scheduled to begin at 12 noon, ahead of the August 15
governorship election in Osun state.
