Ademola Adeleke, governor of Osun state, and the national leadership of Accord Party have adopted President Bola Tinubu as the party’s candidate for the 2027 election.
In a statement on Sunday, Pelumi Olajengbesi, Adeleke
re-election campaign spokesperson, said the governor and the party’s national
leadership met on Saturday night in Osogbo, the Osun state capital, where they
discussed extensively about issues confronting the party.
Olajengbesi said the leadership of the party said it is
important that the Tinubu administration completes all the roads and
infrastructure projects it has commenced such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal road
and the Sokoto-Badagry highway.
He said discussions about the August governorship election
were also held with the party’s leadership warning against violence,
intimidation, electoral manipulation and the use of security forces against
members of Accord Party in Osun state.
The campaign spokesperson said members of the party’s
national leadership present at the meeting include Maxwell Mgbudem, national
chairman; Maryam Sale, deputy national chairman; Ajaja Abiola Adebukola, the
national secretary; Abdulazeez Oyeniyi Salaudeen, national treasurer; Ibe
Thankgod, national organising secretary; Omorogbe Joseph, national publicity
secretary; among others.
Also in attendance were the party’s state’s chairmen from
all over the country.
