2027: Nigeria’s Democracy Must Survive – Seriake Dickson

National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, has expressed strong confidence that Nigeria’s democracy will survive despite current challenges.

The former Bayelsa State governor made the declaration in a statement posted on his verified X handle on Wednesday.Dickson stated that the NDC is currently navigating legal and “contrived shenanigans” from anti-democratic forces, but assured that the storm will pass and become history.

He urged the judiciary to uphold the law and resist any attempt to use it as a tool to derail democracy.

Dickson lamented what he described as betrayal by people he once supported, accusing them of weaponising government institutions to victimise innocent citizens, sack people from office, and spread propaganda.

“Nigeria’s democracy must survive. Multi-party democracy must survive no matter the different odds we may face in the course of returning Nigeria on the right course,” he emphasised.

The NDC leader expressed satisfaction with the growing membership of the party, noting that many leaders and citizens continue to register and actively participate in its activities as the party builds structures nationwide.
