In a statement issued Wednesday, Frank said recent revelations of alleged inflated allocations, fictitious projects, and questionable expenditures have deepened public distrust in the budgeting process.
He described the administration as “one of the most troubling governments in Nigeria’s recent history,” stressing that stronger oversight is needed to restore confidence.
Frank called on the National Assembly to discharge its constitutional duty by scrutinising government spending rather than appearing overly accommodating to the executive.
He warned that perceptions of legislative weakness undermine democratic institutions and erode public trust.
He also appealed to Nigeria’s international development partners to continue supporting the country but to insist on strict safeguards ensuring that aid is transparently managed and reaches intended beneficiaries.
“The future of our nation depends on citizens demanding accountability, defending democratic institutions and exercising their constitutional right to vote for leaders who will restore integrity and competence to governance,” Frank said.
His remarks come as opposition figures, civil society groups, and governance advocates intensify calls for stricter legislative oversight and budgetary transparency following weeks of public debate over alleged irregularities in the 2026 budget.
