The presidency has expressed security concerns over comments against the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Atiku Abubakar, by a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal.
Babachir, while announcing his
resignation from the ADC on Monday, alleged that Atiku is a manipulator,
stating that the outcome of the recently concluded primary election of the
party was predetermined to favour the former vice president.
According to him, the primary elections at all levels were
“massively rigged to favour Kachalla Abubakar Atiku”.
He alleged that results from the polls were “just written or
rewritten to favour him and his coven”.
Reacting, Presidential spokesperson, Daniel Bwala, in a post
on his official X handle, said what the former SGF “said about the candidate of
ADC, if verified is scary and will undermine the national security of Nigeria”.
According to Bwala, the plans of opposition leaders plotting
to remove President Tinubu in 2027 had been exposed, stating that his principal
remained the best candidate.
Bwala claimed that in the past two or three months, “these
people were talking about how they were made from heaven as one indivisible and
indisoluble coalition sent by God to come and rescue Nigeria; and alas, all
their intentions and plans have been exposed”.
He said with the allegations against some of the opposition
candidates, the “choice for 2027 has
never been clearer. President Tinubu, in all honesty, is a million miles
ahead of them”.
