We Took Oath of National Interest While Forming ADC Coalition – Solomon Dalung

.

Former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, has revealed that key figures who formed the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition took a solemn oath at its inception.

According to Dalung, the oath committed all members to put Nigeria’s interest above personal or individual ambitions.

He made the disclosure during an appearance on the Mic On Podcast hosted by Seun Okinbaloye.

The ex-minister, who served under former President Muhammadu Buhari, expressed disappointment that many original members have since broken the oath.

He attributed the ongoing controversies and instability within the coalition largely to personal ambitions overriding the initial collective commitment.

While insisting that the coalition “is not dead,” Dalung admitted it is no longer as strong and formidable as it was when it was formed.

“The controversies are expected because when we went into the coalition on day one, we all took oath that it was not going to be about any individual but country,” he said.

“My disappointment is that most of those who took the oath on day one in the coalition have broken them… personal ambition [has] taken preeminence over our early commitment.”

The ADC has been positioning itself as a major opposition platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.
