The former US president officially unveiled the centre,

Attendees were seen dancing along before giving her a warm
ovation at the conclusion of her set.
The event featured an impressive lineup of musical acts,
including Stevie Wonder, John Legend, Bono and The Edge, Bruce Springsteen,
Christina Aguilera, Common, Eddie Vedder, and Jennifer Hudson.
Latin music star Marc Anthony, band The Roots, and actress
Marsai Martin were also in attendance.
Several political figures were present, including former US
presidents Joe Biden, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush.
Other notable guests included basketball legend Dwyane Wade,
comedians Stephen Colbert and Conan O’Brien, and actress Quinta Brunson.
Michelle Obama, the former first lady, addressed the
gathering, reflecting on the centre’s significance to her personal history.
“The opening of the Presidential Center right here on the
South Side of Chicago is truly a full circle moment,” she said.
“So much of my existence as a child into high school was
driving past this very location where was really nothing. It was a highway. It
was a dangerous place. It was an unutilised park space.
“And I always wondered what was going on there. But to now
be a part of this amazing center. This is beyond a gift.”
Njideka Akunyili-Crosby, the Nigerian-American artist and
the daughter of Dora Akunyili, had previously created a portrait of Obama and
Michelle for the presidential centre.
