Popular social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as Verydarkman (VDM), on Wednesday night led a mass protest in Abuja against worsening insecurity across Nigeria.
VDM, who arrived from China earlier in the day, mobilized members of the Ratel Movement to the Nigerian Air Force Base in Abuja, where demonstrators voiced anger over rising kidnappings and killings.
In viral video clips, protesters were heard chanting: “Tinubu must go, APC must go, bandits must go, terrorists must go.”
VDM, a vocal critic of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, has repeatedly condemned what he describes as government incompetence in tackling insecurity.
While abroad, he urged Nigerians to vote out Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.Ahead of his return, the activist alleged that authorities planned to arrest him, a claim that heightened tension among his supporters.
Large crowds gathered at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport to welcome him before joining the protest.
The demonstration underscores growing frustration among citizens over Nigeria’s security challenges and adds to mounting pressure on the government to deliver urgent reforms.
