Troops Rescue 23 Kidnap Victims in Kogi, Recover Abandoned Vehicles


Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully rescued 23 passengers kidnapped by suspected bandits along the Ayegunle–Bunu Road in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State.


The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. on Monday when armed attackers barricaded the road and ambushed commuters travelling on the route. 


The bandits abducted several passengers before fleeing the scene.Security sources said troops from the 12 Brigade, deployed in Kabba, swiftly mobilised to the area following a distress call. 


Although the kidnappers had already escaped by the time the soldiers arrived, the troops rescued 23 victims.


At the scene, the soldiers discovered two dead bodies and five injured persons. They also recovered two Toyota commercial buses and a HOWO truck abandoned by the roadside.
