Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, national leader of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), has called on President Bola Tinubu to step down over what he described as the government’s failure to protect Nigerians from worsening insecurity.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Thursday, Baba-Ahmed, a former aide to Tinubu argued that the President has failed in his primary responsibility of safeguarding lives and property.
“It’s clear Tinubu has no handle on the escalating menace. Every inch of Nigeria is now vulnerable, children are being stolen, and criminality is spreading unchecked. In a civilized society, Tinubu’s record on insecurity should have cost him his seat a long time ago,” he said.
He insisted that his call was neither partisan nor confrontational, but a necessary demand in the face of rising threats.
“Do we need to wait until more children are stolen and the country is overrun by criminality? The President has failed to protect anybody. Sir, you cannot run this country, so please step down. It’s not a party thing, it’s the right thing to do,” Baba-Ahmed added.
The PRP leader also urged Nigerians to reject Tinubu in the 2027 elections, stressing that the President’s handling of insecurity has left the nation exposed.
