President Bola Tinubu on Monday received Benin Republic’s newly inaugurated President Romuald Wadagni at his Ikoyi residence for bilateral talks.
Wadagni arrived Lagos Monday afternoon and was received at Murtala Muhammed International Airport by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu before heading to meet the Nigerian leader.
The two presidents held a closed-door meeting that lasted about 30 minutes. Details of the discussions were not disclosed.
The visit comes barely a week after Wadagni was sworn in as Benin’s president on May 24, 2026, following his April 12 election victory. He succeeded former President Patrice Talon.
Tinubu had delegated Vice President Kashim Shettima to represent Nigeria at Wadagni’s inauguration in Cotonou.
