Former Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Solomon Dalung, has criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government for failing to tackle Nigeria’s worsening insecurity while swiftly clamping down on critics.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Friday, Dalung accused the government of lacking the political will to confront terrorism.
He lamented that while authorities possess the technology to track and arrest individuals who criticize them, they have failed to deploy similar resources against bandits and insurgents.
“They have all the gadgets to track anybody who criticizes the government. They can pick him up in the next five minutes, but they don’t have equipment to track terrorists who display huge funds in the forest,” Dalung said.
He described the APC government as “completely and woefully failed,” insisting it has no solution to the country’s security challenges. Dalung highlighted the situation in Plateau State, where displaced communities now occupy highways and attack vehicles in frustration, making travel unsafe.
The former minister argued that Nigerians are determined to confront terrorism but are hindered by a government unwilling to act decisively.
He warned that continued failure to address insecurity could deepen public distrust and worsen instability across the country.
