Soldiers Rescue Five Kidnapped Victims in Kogi as Terrorists Flee

Troops of the 12 Brigade of the Nigerian Army have successfully rescued five kidnapped victims in Kogi State after terrorists abandoned them during a swift escape from ongoing military operations.

The rescue took place on Wednesday as part of intensified counter-terrorism efforts under the 2 Division Nigerian Army. Ground and air offensives targeted terrorist hideouts in the forested areas of the state, forcing the criminals to disperse.

According to a statement by the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 12 Brigade, Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, troops on a blocking mission along the Oshokoshoko–Adankolo route in Adankolo Forest intercepted the victims, who had been left behind by the fleeing terrorists.

“Preliminary findings revealed that the victims had regained their freedom after the terrorists were forced to disperse in the aftermath of the ongoing kinetic operations targeting their hideouts,” the statement said.

The rescued individuals were quickly evacuated to a safe location, where they received medical attention and stabilisation at a military medical facility.

They were also debriefed to gather intelligence that could aid ongoing efforts to locate and neutralise remaining terrorists in the area.Efforts are now underway to reunite the victims with their families once medical and administrative processes are completed.

The Commander of the 12 Brigade, Brigadier General Kasim Sidi, praised the troops for their vigilance, resilience, and professionalism. He called on residents to continue providing credible intelligence to support military operations, emphasising that public cooperation is key to defeating criminal elements in the state.
