Ahead of Saturday’s senatorial by-election in Ondo South, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has called on residents to back the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Prof. Dayo Faduyile.
The election, conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), follows the appointment of former senator Jimoh Ibrahim as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
Speaking at the APC’s final campaign rally in Okitipupa, Aiyedatiwa represented by his deputy, Dr. Olayide Adelami described Faduyile, a former president of the Nigeria Medical Association, as the most qualified to represent the district.
“Prof. Faduyile possesses the experience, intellect, and leadership qualities needed to effectively articulate the interests of Ondo South at the National Assembly,” the governor said, urging voters to maintain peaceful conduct during the poll.
He emphasized the need to sustain the district’s tradition of strong representation, noting that Faduyile’s pedigree would continue the legacy established by Senator Ibrahim.
The governor also expressed confidence in the APC’s growing acceptance across Ondo State, pledging overwhelming support for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
State APC Chairman Babatunde Kolawole and Campaign Committee Chairman Pastor Femi Agagu echoed the governor’s sentiments, highlighting Faduyile’s credentials and grassroots appeal as key strengths ahead of the vote.
