The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun state has unveiled Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun, a 51-year-old chartered accountant, as its deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
Adegunwa-Balogun, a fellow of the Institute of Chartered
Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), will serve as running mate to Solomon Adeola,
the party’s governorship candidate.
Dapo Abiodun, governor of Ogun, presented Adegunwa-Balogun
in Abeokuta, the state capital, on Sunday at the APC strategic caucus meeting.
The governor said the decision was reached after extensive
consultations with leaders of the party across the state.
A statement issued on Sunday by Emmanuel Ojo, senior special
assistant on new media to the governor, described Adegunwa-Balogun as a
distinguished finance professional and business leader with over 30 years of
experience in finance, corporate governance, manufacturing, business
transformation, and strategic leadership.
She holds an MBA in finance from Bayes Business School,
London, and a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of
Lagos.
According to the statement, she is a fellow of both the
Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAN) and the
Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), United Kingdom (UK), and
has attended executive leadership programmes at Harvard Business School and the
Wharton School.
Adegunwa-Balogun currently serves as the chief financial
officer and executive director, finance and information technology, at Rite
Foods Limited, “where she has played a pivotal role in the growth of one of
Nigeria’s leading indigenous manufacturing companies”.
“A passionate advocate for women empowerment, youth
development, entrepreneurship, and institutional excellence, she is widely
respected for her integrity, competence, innovation, and results-driven
leadership,” the statement reads.
“As the APC deputy governorship candidate, she brings a
wealth of experience in corporate leadership, financial management, and
strategic governance, further strengthening the party’s commitment to inclusive
development, economic growth, and prosperity for the people of Ogun state.”
