The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified its campaign against terrorists and armed bandits in the North West, carrying out precision airstrikes under Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 1.
According to Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, the coordinated missions on June 18 and 19 targeted criminal enclaves based on credible intelligence, disrupting terrorist activities and degrading their operational capacity.
In one mission, NAF aircraft struck a confirmed terrorist stronghold within the Joint Operations Area.
Another intelligence-led operation around Kidandan neutralized terrorists after their movements were positively identified.
Follow-up reconnaissance over Fatika and Sabuwa confirmed no further hostile activity, while aerial surveillance continues to support ground forces.
Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, emphasized the importance of integrating air power with surface operations, noting: “Decisive air power delivers its greatest effect when seamlessly integrated with ground forces.”
The NAF reiterated its commitment to employing intelligence-driven air operations in synergy with other security agencies to neutralize terrorists, protect civilians, and restore peace across the region.
