President Bola Tinubu has declared that Nigeria will never cede any part of its territory to criminals, commending the Armed Forces and security agencies for recent successful operations against bandit networks.
In a statement issued Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu praised the elimination of notorious bandit leader Ibrahim Bastuji in Kogi State and the rescue of Hajiya Amina Rabe Abubakar, widow of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar, from captivity in Katsina.
Security forces neutralised Bastuji and his fighters during a joint operation involving the Nigerian Army, DSS, Police, and Civil Defence Corps, foiling plans to attack a school and residents in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area.
Separately, troops of the 17 Brigade freed Mrs. Abubakar after engaging kidnappers in Tunga Village.
Tinubu described the operations as decisive milestones: “Nigeria will not surrender any part of its territory to criminals. Those who choose the path of violence against innocent citizens will find no hiding place.”
He emphasised that the neutralisation of Bastuji would restore public confidence and bring relief to communities plagued by insecurity.
The President also hailed the safe return of Mrs. Abubakar as evidence of the professionalism and bravery of Nigeria’s security forces.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment, Tinubu pledged continued support for the military and security agencies through resources, training, and operational backing.
He urged citizens to cooperate with authorities by providing credible information to aid ongoing efforts against banditry and kidnapping.
