Alexander Ombugu, factional chairman of the Labour Party (LP) in Nasarawa State, has raised concerns over threats to his life, urging security agencies to intervene.
Speaking to journalists in Lafia on Saturday, Ombugu revealed that the threats may be linked to disputes surrounding the party’s recently concluded primary elections.
He stressed that his stance on certain issues has angered individuals both within and outside the party.“My wife came back crying after hearing rumours that I will soon be attacked. I tried to calm her down, but the situation shows how serious these threats have become,” Ombugu said.
He declined to name those he suspects, insisting that such information should be handled by security agencies to avoid compromising investigations.
Ombugu emphasized that he has always acted within the laws guiding the Labour Party and Nigeria, appealing for urgent protection and a thorough investigation.
“I have not wronged anyone since joining politics. I am only standing by the truth, and that is why some people are unhappy. I call on security agencies to provide adequate coverage and ensure my safety,” he added.
