Labour Leader Tells Tinubu: Stop Behaving Like an Emperor, You Are a Tenant in Aso Rock

A prominent labour leader, Comrade Andrew Emelieze, National Coordinator of the All Workers Convergence (AWC), has sharply criticised President Bola Tinubu, urging him to stop acting like an emperor and remember that he is only a temporary tenant in Aso Rock Presidential Villa.

In a strongly worded statement issued on Sunday, June 21, 2026, Emelieze accused the Tinubu administration of presiding over severe economic hardship, worsening insecurity, and policies that are harmful to the majority of Nigerians.

The labour leader highlighted persistent challenges including kidnapping, banditry, and other violent crimes, which he said have made life unbearable for citizens.

He claimed that the administration’s programmes and policies are compounding the daily struggles of ordinary Nigerians.

Emelieze warned the President to reflect on his legacy and consider public opinion before leaving office.

He advised Tinubu to go online and see the growing discontent among citizens, including the trending hashtag #TinubuMustGo.

“You want to present yourself as a father figure, but your approach has not been in the best interest of the masses,” Emelieze stated.

He further alleged that governance under Tinubu has become “hazardous and a serious threat to our democracy,” with accusations of covert manipulations and suppression of dissenting voices.

On insecurity, the AWC coordinator said Nigerians have been abandoned to terrorists and bandits, describing the situation as having “two governments”, a civilian regime and a “banditocracy.” He suggested that the level of killings could justify resignation or impeachment.

Emelieze repeatedly emphasised the temporary nature of political power: “Your days are numbered in Aso Rock. You are not going to be in Aso Rock forever… Stop behaving like an emperor; you are not a landlord in Aso Rock.”

He concluded by urging President Tinubu to amend his ways while there is still time, stressing that one day he will vacate the Presidential Villa.
