The Kogi state police command has identified the young woman whose body was found along the Lokoja-Abuja highway as Sarah Idoko, a final-year student of the Federal University, Lokoja.
Idoko was found dead on Saturday night along Felele axis of
Lokoja after she was allegedly dumped by unidentified assailants.
Eyewitnesses said a vehicle was spotted stopping briefly
near the location at about 8pm before speeding away.
Her body was later discovered by passers-by along the
roadside and security authorities were contacted.
Confirming the incident, Naziru Kankarofi, Kogi state
commissioner of police said that investigations are ongoing to unravel the
circumstances surrounding her death and apprehend perpetrators.
“The command is working to establish the circumstances
surrounding the death and track down those responsible,” Kankarofi said.
The commissioner assured the residents that the outcome of
the investigation would be made public at the appropriate time and reiterated
the command’s commitment to ensuring justice for the deceased.
