A multi-storey building housing a Polaris Bank branch on Broad Street, Lagos Island, was engulfed by fire on Thursday afternoon.
Videos shared on social media captured thick plumes of smoke billowing from the structure as onlookers, including residents and business operators, gathered at the scene.
Firefighters and other emergency responders arrived promptly and worked to contain the blaze while preventing it from spreading to adjacent buildings in the densely populated commercial area.As of the time of reporting, the cause of the fire remained unknown. No official statement had been issued by emergency management agencies or the Lagos State Government.
No casualties were confirmed, though efforts to get comments from relevant authorities were still ongoing.
