The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), in partnership with Rite Foods Limited, will on Tuesday recognise seven exceptional Nigerian undergraduates with ₦5 million awards each at the inaugural Academic Excellence Recognition Award Ceremony in Lagos.
The awards celebrate outstanding academic performance in the 2025 admission cycle, specifically high scores in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) combined with strong results in Post-UTME or institutional screening exercises at their respective universities.
In a statement on Sunday, JAMB’s Public Communication Adviser, Fabian Benjamin, said the seven recipients were selected through a transparent, rigorous, and merit-based process managed by the board.
Six of the awardees represent Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, while the seventh recipient is the highest-performing admitted student living with a disability.
The beneficiaries hail from:
University of Lagos (South-West)
University of Uyo (South-South)
Federal University of Technology, Owerri (South-East)
Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia (North-West)
University of Maiduguri (North-East)
Federal University of Technology, Minna (North-Central)
One additional awardee from the University of Lagos (the disability category winner) brings the institution’s total to two recipients in this maiden edition.
The ceremony is expected to draw over 300 participants, including the Minister of Education, JAMB Registrar Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, vice-chancellors, heads of regulatory agencies, education stakeholders, development partners, corporate leaders, students, and media representatives.
JAMB described the collaboration with Rite Foods as a shared commitment to promoting academic excellence, rewarding merit, and inspiring young Nigerians to strive for greater educational achievements.
