Ini Dima-Okojie, the Nigerian actress, and Abasi Ene-Obong, her husband, have welcomed their first child together.
The Nollywood star took to her Instagram page on Wednesday
to share photos of herself cradling the infant.
However, she chose to keep certain details private,
declining to disclose the child’s name or date of birth.
Ini, who turned 36 on June 24, said she is trading birthday
photoshoots to celebrate herself as a new mother.
The actress shared an intimate reflection on her transition
into motherhood, a role she described as more transformative than any she has
ever played on screen.
“Every year, my birthday comes with a photoshoot, glam, and
a carefully planned concept. This year, none of that felt quite right,” she
wrote.
“There is no role I have ever played that has humbled me,
stretched me, challenged me, or filled my heart quite like this one.
“Because as special as every birthday has been, this one
feels different. This year, I celebrate as a mother.”
She also described the past few weeks as some of the most
beautiful, overwhelming, exhausting and rewarding moments of her life and
talked about the joy of getting to know her son, whom she described as “the
cutest boy with the sweetest dimples”.
“The newborn phase is no joke, and I definitely didn’t fully
understand what was waiting for me,” she said.
“Today, I celebrate another year of life, but even more than
that, I celebrate the privilege of being his mum.”
Dima-Okojie first announced she was pregnant in April, sharing a video of herself in a flowing white gown, showing off her baby bump.
