President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday assured that the era of starting roads and infrastructural projects without completing them in Nigeria is over.
Tinubu vowed to ensure that infrastructural projects cut
across all states of the nation until Nigeria becomes a developed nation.
He spoke during the commissioning of the newly constructed
roads of Gomani-Dafa-Yangoji in the FCT to mark his third anniversary in
office as president of Nigeria.
Represented by the President of the Senate, Godswill
Akpabio, Tinubu said the road networks being constructed are a testament to the
renewed hope agenda he promised Nigerians.
He said: “I’m pleased to commission this newly completed
13km stretch of Gomani-Dafa-Yangoji road, and of course this is renewed hope
made visible for the good people of Kwali and the FCT, not in speeches but in
Ashphalt, bridges and in light.
“When we set out under the renewed hope agenda , we agreed
on one thing that development must reach every Nigerian, not just those at the
centre, at the cities, Abuja can’t be a city of two walls, but this roads
rejects that divide. This roads connects Goamni-Dafa-Yangoji to markets,
schools, and opportunities.
“For too long the strength of our rural communities was held
back with poor access roads, crops rot away before reaching the markets, young
people left because they wrote to their ears that it’s impossible, instead of
bringing them up, the roads were bringing them down but those things have
changed today.
“This road is a prove of what happens when a team is focused
on results and not excuses, let me state this very plainly that the era of
starting projects only to abandon them is over. We will fund, finish, and we
would maintain the infrastructure that we are building.
“From city expressways to rural areas, to access roads,
every single naira of public funds must show up as value for the citizens of
this country. We would keep laying it district by district, council by council
and state by state until Nigeria becomes a developed nation.”
