Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to South Africa, Femi Fani-Kayode, has said detractors should bury their heads in shame over their falsehood against former Zamfara State governor, Abdullaziz Yari.
Videos alleging that Yari was linked to gold smuggling
recently circulated on social media platforms.
This followed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,
EFCC’s interception of 22.2 kilograms of gold worth N4.4 billion at the Mallam
Aminu Kano International Airport.
Condemning the videos, Fani-Kayode accused those behind the
videos of trying to pull down a good man.
Posting on X, Fani-Kayode wrote: “The assertion that my
friend and brother Senator Abdul Aziz Yari, the Marafan Sokoto, had any
connection with the gold that was intercepted at Kano airport is pure
falsehood.
“Worse still, it is asinine and nonsensical. There is nothing
new in trying to pull a good man down, and it rarely works.
“Nothing can change a man’s destiny or prevent him from
achieving God’s purpose for his life. Those that are behind this fake news are
vicious and malicious: they should bury their heads in shame.”
