The English FA says its men’s national team has been a victim of theft ahead of country’s first match of the 2026 World Cup.
The crime happened after vehicles transferring equipment to
England’s Kansas City training base were allegedly burgled.
The English FA has yet to ascertain all that was stolen
during the burglary, but balls, boots, and other training equipment are among
the items reported missing.
Two people have been arrested in connection with the theft,
and the Kansas Police have assured that an investigation into the incident is
ongoing.
“We are investigating a possible theft of equipment from a
team vehicle that arrived in Kansas City with items missing this evening. The
investigation is ongoing,” a police spokesperson said.
England arrived in the US almost a week ago and had been
training in Florida. The team is scheduled to move to Swope Soccer Village in
Kansas, where they will resume training on the Saturday before their first
match of the competition.
The Three Lions will face Croatia on Wednesday at AT&T
Stadium in Dallas, Texas, before further Group L games against Ghana and
Panama.
