APC Chieftain Urges Kwara Governor to Mend Party Divisions

A former All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial aspirant in Kwara South, Sola Ajimati, has appealed to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to urgently reconcile aggrieved party members amid rising concerns over internal disputes and security challenges in the state.

In an open letter, Ajimati warned that unresolved primary election controversies and perceived exclusion from decision-making risk weakening the APC ahead of future polls.

He stressed that unity, inclusion, and broad stakeholder engagement are essential to sustaining the governor’s achievements and securing electoral success.

Ajimati pointed to Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s re-election as proof that consultation and consensus-building strengthen parties, contrasting it with Osun State’s electoral setbacks linked to internal disagreements.

He also raised concerns about irregularities in the May 18 Kwara South Senatorial Primary, calling for a transparent review to restore confidence in the APC’s internal democracy.

To address grievances, Ajimati urged AbdulRazaq to convene a stakeholders’ meeting and establish an independent reconciliation committee.

He emphasized that political unity is vital not only for electoral strength but also for tackling emerging security threats in Kwara.

The letter is expected to intensify ongoing debates within the Kwara APC over party cohesion and leadership strategy as preparations for upcoming elections gather pace.
