Several aspirants who contested in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries for seats in the Bauchi State House of Assembly have protested what they described as neglect and exclusion by the party following their defeat.
Operating under the banner of the Bauchi State House of Assembly 2026 APC Aspirants Forum, the group addressed a press briefing in Bauchi on Monday, stressing that their intervention was aimed at strengthening the party ahead of the general elections.
Speaking on behalf of the forum, Gazali Wunti said the primaries left many aspirants and supporters disillusioned, with some defecting to other parties.
He noted that while the exercise fell short of expectations, members of the forum deliberately chose to remain in the APC and seek redress through constructive engagement.
Wunti commended the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, and the National Working Committee for initiating a review of the primary process, but urged that the exercise be transparent, thorough, and fair to restore confidence and unity.
The forum demanded greater inclusion in party affairs, campaign structures, consultations, appointments, and decision-making at both state and federal levels.
“Our demand is not for favours but for inclusion, fairness, recognition and justice,” Wunti emphasized.
Despite their grievances, the aspirants reaffirmed loyalty to the APC and pledged to work for its success in the forthcoming elections, warning that continued neglect could weaken party cohesion.
