Former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, has described President Bola Tinubu as the “most unserious person” among potential 2027 presidential contenders, despite his political strategies and machinery.
Speaking in an interview on the Mic On Podcast, Dalung argued that President Tinubu is seriously underestimating the strength of the opposition and the level of public discontent ahead of the next general elections.
The ex-minister claimed that Tinubu’s support base is below 14 percent nationwide and insisted there is no state where the President can confidently claim victory.“I don’t see Tinubu as serious as you are presenting him. Tinubu’s support is not up to 14 percent in Nigeria. Let’s take the States, can you show me where Tinubu will win? There is none,” Dalung said.
He further predicted that Lagos State, Tinubu’s political stronghold, would become a major battleground involving the APC, NDC, ADC, and PDP in 2027.“Lagos is going to be a battle zone between APC, NDC, ADC, and PDP. He was defeated in 2023. He will be defeated worse than what happened in 2023 because Tinubu doesn’t learn any lessons,” he added.
Dalung criticised the President for allegedly failing to address insecurity and economic hardship, saying such issues are “designing your political grave as a politician.”He concluded that Tinubu is living in a bubble, shielded from reality and relying on artificially produced social media videos for a false sense of support.
The outspoken politician’s remarks come as political realignments and coalition talks continue to intensify ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
