2027: Peter Obi’s Move to NDC Not His Final Destination – LP Chieftain, Abayomi Arabambi

Factional Labour Party National Vice Chairman (South West), Dr Abayomi Arabambi, has said that Peter Obi’s defection to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is not his final political destination.

Arabambi made the remark while speaking on Arise Television, commenting on Obi’s emergence as the presidential flagbearer of the NDC for the 2027 general elections.

“Peter Obi’s move to the NDC is not his final destination. If he thinks he has found a safe haven after destabilising the Labour Party, he may soon face serious political pushback from those still within the party structure,” Arabambi stated.

He added that Obi “cannot weaken a platform and simply move on without consequences, as internal political realities will eventually catch up with him.”

“Ultimately, the political space is competitive, and no one can impose themselves without broad acceptance. However, the final decision rests with Nigerians, and no candidate can become president without addressing issues of governance, accountability, and the fight against corruption,” he said.

Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, recently moved to the NDC after internal crises in the Labour Party and has since been ratified as its presidential candidate for 2027, with former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso reportedly selected as his running mate.
