The trio of Senators Victor Umeh, Tony Nwoye, and Chief Ebuka Onunkwo have secured the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) senatorial tickets for the 2027 general elections in Anambra State.
Umeh clinched the ticket for Anambra Central Senatorial District, Nwoye for Anambra North, and Onunkwo for Anambra South. They emerged victorious in the party’s primary elections held across the state on Friday.
The primaries, conducted using the Option A4 voting system, featured smooth accreditation of registered party members followed by voting in the afternoon.
Party members turned out in impressive numbers. The exercise also produced 11 candidates for the Federal House of Representatives and 30 for the State House of Assembly.
NDC Anambra State Chairman, Ikem Uzoezie, praised the process as peaceful, transparent, and credible. He congratulated all aspirants for displaying excellent sportsmanship.
Speaking on behalf of the successful candidates, Onunkwo expressed delight with the orderly conduct of the primaries.
He highlighted a shared commitment among the party’s nominees to deliver “populist representation” and elevate Anambra State to greater heights, noting the abundance of integrity among the state’s leaders.
The results position these experienced politicians as the NDC’s standard-bearers in their respective zones ahead of the 2027 polls.
