President Bola Tinubu has clinched the All Progressives
Congress (APC) presidential ticket for the 2027 elections.
Anyim Pius Anyim, chairman of the APC election committee,
pronounced Tinubu the winner of the presidential primary on Sunday at the
International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja.
The presidential primary was held in 8,809 wards and 774
LGAs across the country.
Anyim said Tinubu secured 10,999,162 votes to defeat Stanley
Osifo, his lone challenger, who got 16,503 votes.
He said 12,643,306 members were registered for the exercise,
while 11,069,756 voters were accredited and 11,015,665 votes were cast.
“Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, it is therefore my duty
as the returning officer for this primary election to declare President Bola
Ahmed Tinubu, having satisfied the requirements of the APC constitution and
guidelines and scored the highest number of votes, winner of the presidential
primary election and the presidential candidate of the All Progressives
Congress for the 2027 general election,” he said.
Hope Uzodinma, Imo state governor, said the outcome of the
presidential primary shows that the APC is prepared to contest and win the 2027
election.
“APC is growing day by day, more robustly, stronger, more
popular, ready to go into any contest at any time,” he said.
Uzodinma added that the ruling party is a credible platform
with a verifiable membership register.
