Nyesom Wike, minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), says there is no longer parallel leadership in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday in Abuja, Wike
said the Supreme Court verdict, which invalidated the PDP national convention
held on November 15 and 16, 2025, has finally laid to rest all disputes over
leadership structures within the party.
The convention produced Kabiru Turaki as the national
chairman of the party.
The minister said the apex court’s ruling has validated the
March 29 national convention, which produced Abdulrahman Mohammed and Samuel
Anyanwu as national chairman and secretary, respectively.
“Today, the Supreme Court has brought to an end the
so-called factions of the PDP. There is no more faction in the party. There is
only one PDP,” he said.
“The Supreme Court has validated our convention and set
aside all claims to any parallel structure. What this means is that the PDP has
come to stay as one united party.”
Wike said the apex court’s verdict reaffirms the importance
of due process in party affairs.
“The PDP is stable, united and ready to play its role
effectively. What has happened today is a victory for the rule of law and
internal democracy,” he said.
Wike added that the PDP remains Nigeria’s foremost
opposition party and a “credible alternative” to the All Progressives Congress
(APC).
