Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi, representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District, has formally resigned his membership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
In a resignation letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of Ningi Ward in Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State, Ningi announced his exit from the party he had served for over 20 years.
He joined the PDP in 1998 and rose through the ranks, serving two terms as a Member of the House of Representatives and two terms as Senator.
According to the letter, the decision followed wide consultations with stakeholders, associates, and supporters.
Ningi cited internal leadership crisis, factional divisions, and competing interests as major reasons for his departure, saying these issues have weakened the party’s unity and turned it into a “ramshackle organisation.”
While acknowledging the PDP’s past glory as “once the largest political party in Africa,” Ningi described his exit as one of the most difficult moments in his political career.
He expressed gratitude to party leaders for their support over the years. The resignation comes amid ongoing turmoil within the PDP as it prepares for future elections.
